| Our ancient church has been in existence prior
to 1176 there is a Thoroton reference to a wedding at the door at this date Standing at the North end of Arnold Town this lovely landmark church has been the focal point for thousands of births marriages and deaths, its weathered stone tower and bells have declared its presence for services of ' celebration to the residents of the town loudly and clearly on these sometimes sad and sometimes happy occasions. Now it is necessary to carry out immediate necessary work to the electrical installation to make the building safe and to comply with the current electrical regulations. This is no small venture as the church is faced with a cost of some £42,000 to carry out electrical re-wiring alone and this upgrading of the installation will allow the church to continue its work of worship and mission in the parish The willing congregation support the church in this vital work but we as the Church Council have thought that perhaps the businesses, the people of Arnold and others would like to help by supporting this and the ongoing work of maintaining the church as a Place of Worship and Prayer. The building by the very nature of its age does need substantial funds to maintain the fabric of the building and your help to keep the historic church active would be appreciated. It takes over £80,000 each year to keep the doors open and the building heated. A large proportion of this is given by regular worshippers You can of course Gift Aid any donation you may care to offer and any offer will be greatly appreciated by giving, as Gift Aid the church will receive the 28 pence in every pound tax if you are a UK taxpayer. |
