St. Mary's New Site

Our music ministry is one of the most active areas in our church. At St.Mary's we try to create a glorious atmosphere of celebration and praise in all our worship and encourage everybody to use their musical gifts. Our goal is to lift up the name of the Lord in song, music, and drama.

There is definitely a place for you if you would like to develop your musical talents from children in the choir, young people in the band to the more mature adults!Bring your talents in the Lord's service here.

The choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and choristers are entered into their training scheme, which provides individual teaching in music and the Church of England.The training instils a sense of spirituality and discipline and also develops the self confidence of youngsters, which will be of great benefit to them in higher education and in later life. In return, we ask that choristers regularly attend choir rehearsals in church on Thursdays between 6.30pm and 8pm and church on Sundays between 9.45am and 11.30am. Choristers are sometimes invited to sing at weddings on Saturdays and at a few special services. Notice will be given about these and choristers will often be paid a fee. The choirmaster is a qualified and experienced teacher who has a degree in music and education. There are also four other qualified and experienced teachers in the choir. All activities are carried out within the same strict educational guidelines as govern the state education system.
